Woman dies in blaze
PA Gisborne An elderly woman is dead and two houses destroyed after an early morning blaze in Fox Street, Gisborne, The dead woman is (believed to have been Mrs Joan Pauline Heath, aged 68, a receptionist at Orange i Grove Motels, who lived i alone. A body believed to be that! !of Mrs Heath was found ini i the remains of the kitchen ( lat the. rear of the house,! | where the fire is though to! : have started. The next-door neighbours, who were taken from their! house as fierce flames crossed the narrow gap be-< tween the two buildings, had! to watch, helpless, as th’eir i 45-year-old home was des-1 troyed. Forty firemen us id eight ! hose-lines from four appli-! lances in the battle to con-! trol the fire. Three firemen! suffered minor injuries.
