Fastest rider
The New Zealand record for the fastest speed on a motorcycle has been broken by a Manapouri rider, Earle Nunn, at Momona, near Dunedin. Riding his turbo-charged 1109 cu cm Kawasaki drag bike, he reached 271km/h (168.38 miles an hour) in a flying quarter-mile on Kirks Drain Road. The old record of 164.46 miles an hour was set by R. H. Burns (Christchurch) on a Vincent in 1957.—PA
