High jumper grounded
NZPA Edmonton The Australian high jumper, Gordon Windeyer, is his team’s latest track and field casualty. Windeyer has damaged tendons in the ankle of his right foot — his take-off leg. The team doctor said there was no chance of the injury healing fully before Windeyer competes next Friday (N.Z. time). “He should be laid off, but as we can’t do that, we hope that the therapy he is undergoing will build up the strength in his lower leg sufficiently to overcome the problem,” the doctor said.
