There are five other hospitals throughout its area involved in the provision of such services. It is intended that the position will be a full time one. The Waikato Hospital has 912 active beds, and provides all standard and specialist clinical services. It also acts as a base hospital for a population of 250.000 people. Encompassed in its area of service is a rich pastoral and agricultural area, and all facilities for education and summer and winter sports.
