Akaroa sewage discharge
The North Canterbury Catchment Board has allowed the daily discharge of up to 500 cu m of treated I sewage effluent into Akaroa Harbour from the Akaroa sewerage plant. The board said sampling i
had shown that discharge would not affect the bacteriological quality of the harbour beyond Redhouse Bay. No significant faecal coliform would reach water-ski-ing or bathing areas north of Green Point.
