Nicholls starting favourite
John Nicholls (250 Yamaha) will be the man to beat when the South Island stadium moto-cross series continues at Templeton speedway tomorrow. After two rounds of the five-round series, Nicholls leads the field with a maximum 18 points. He was the easy winner of the first round some weeks ago, but was extended in the second round by the current. second-placed rider, Robert Selby (250 Suzuki). Nicholls had to pass Selby on the final lap of the last race in the second round to win.
Selby, with 13 points, is followed by Chris Adamson, also on a 250 Suzuki, with 12. Robin Hampton (125 Yamaha) and the Ashburton rider, Ross McKay (250 Honda), are sharing fourth place on 8 points and Ross Horsborough (125 Yamaha) is next with 7.
