Computer leak admitted
PA Wellington A police constable had been fined $4O after admitting giving information from the Wanganui Computer Centre to an unauthorised person, said the Commissioner of Police (Mr R. J. Walton). Inquiries had been made into an allegation of leaked information and as a result the constable had appeared before a police tribunal.
A union official had asked the constable to ascertain if persons nominated for a position in the union had any convictions for dishonesty which would have precluded them from office. The constable had checked with the Wanganui computer, had found that none had convictions recorded, and had advised the union official accordingly.
