Advice on solar heaters

PA Auckland People who install solar water heaters should have an extra tap above basins and baths for the solar heated water, according to a member of the Auckland Electric Power Board, Mr P. J. Dempsey. He told a board meeting that he would like to see the board make it mandatory for solar-heated water to bypass a holding tank, the washing machine and dish washer, and be completely independent of the electric water heater. The board administers the new $5OO interest-free loans for such heaters. Mr Dempsey said later that his system would lessen the chances of faults developing in the heaters, and therefore not involve board staff. It would increase power savings on existing electric water heaters, and encourage the user to take a greater interest in his heater. He intends to introduce the subject again at next month’s board meeting.
