Bowls to Bellis
The Hoon Hay Working Men’s | Club four skipped by Lloyd 'Bellis had a clear-cut win in the ifinal of the Bradley Cup indoorbowls tournament yesterday. It beat Tom Clark’s Avonhead team, 16-7. with the final end not played Bellis made a grand start to the final, leading. 12-2, after onlx five ends. Eight points came from members of Clark’s team killing the jack. Clark scored a single on the sixth end and Bellis replied with a single on the seventh. Clark scored two on the next end but killed the jack on the ninth to make his position almost hopeless.
A superb draw-shot enabled Clark to gain a single on the tenth. He was holding four shots on the eleventh until Bellis drew a shot inside three of them to restrict the score to a single and put the Hoon Hay win beyond doubt. Bellis eliminated the titleholder. Tony Gorman (Northcote). 6-5, in the quarter-finals and needed an extra end to win his semi-final against Ray Ellis (New Brighton R.S.A.). Bellis played the perfect block on the extra end and Ellis could not break it Results:—
