New Zealanders with fame overseas
A series of programmes about talented New Zealanders living and working overseas begins on the Concert Programme tonight. Some of these people are internationally known. The first programme is given to the famous Kiri Te Kanawa. She talks to Nancy Wise about her way of life and her work as an opera singer. Her most recent role was in a Covent Garden production of “Die Fledermaus,” a production that was telecast
throughout the United Kingdom, Europe and America. She is shortly off to Italy for a lengthy recording session.
Nevertheless, the young New Zealand woman who has become the toast of international opera is still very much preoccupied with her family life. She also talks about this in the programme tonight.
Kiri Te Kanawa will sing two Mozart arias, from Cosi Fan Tutte and Don Giovanni in the first edition of “New Zealanders Abroad.”
