Anglican Church appointments
The Rev. P. E. Hammonds has been appointed vicar of St Aidan’s, Bryndwr. He will replace the Archdeacon of Sumner (the Ven. R. A. Carson.)
Mr Hammonds, who is now vicar of Hoon Hay, will take up his duties in October. He was ordained in Christchurch in 1964, and after serving in two curacies, worked for five years in the. African Missionary Diocese of VictoriaNyanza. He was appointed vicar of Hoon Hay in 1974. The Rev. L. F. Allison has been appointed assistant priest in the parish of St Peter’s, Upper Riccarton. He will take office on August 1.
Mr Allison is vicar of Tinwald-Hinds, and was ordained in Dunedin in 1945. He has served in parishes in the dioceses of Waikato and Wellington, as chaplain to Rolleston Prison and to the Ist Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, and as vicar of Leeston. He was appointed to TinwaldHinds in 1973.
