Currency report
The weakness of the U.S. dollar continued to dominate trading in the currency mar-l kets, according to the diary! kept by the London foreign exchange department of the Bank of New South Wales. The dollar was especially weak against the yen; in spite of intervention by the Bank of Japan it fell below 209 yen on Friday — the lowest 'eve' since the war. Sterling firmed slightly as fears of an excessive growth in the U.K. money supply: are abating.
