McHenry had talks in Luanda last year. Those talks were limited ’ to the search for a formula for independence in Namibia, Angola’s southern neighbour,; which has been administered! by South Africa since World War One. The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, (Mr Donald Easum), also visited! the Angolgn capital in February for talks on Namibia. ; Mr McHenry’s two-day| stay in the Angolan capital i will deal not only.with Na-; mibia, but also with Angola’s giant neighbour to the north. Zaire. Rebels based in Angola have invaded southern Zaire twice in little more than a year. Angola has charged that it too has been attacked — by Western-backed nationalists; who were defeated with Cuban help in the civil war ! that followed Angola’s inde- ‘ pendence.
