Escapers stay thirsty

Two inmates of Paparua Prison did nor get even time for a drink during their escape bid yesterday afternoon. The two men had been gardening and failed to report in at 5 p.m. According to a prison spokesman, they had taken a prison tractor and had driven towards the Yaldhurst Hotel. The two were reported missing and a search was started. They were found 20 minutes later parked at the Yaldhurst Garage, near the hotel. They had not had a chance to get inside the hotel before they were escorted back to prison. No charges will be laid against the prisoners; the matter will be dealt with by the prison authorities.
