Local injury worry
Both Trans Tours United and Woolston Working Men’s Club seem certain to make changes to their sides for the Adidas Challenge Trophy matches against New Brighton and Rangers respectively today. The United coach (Mr Terry Conley) confirmed yesterday that his international full-back. lan Park, was a doubtful starter, hav-
ing twisted his knee at training on Thursday evening. If Park fails to pass a fitness test, Ross Durant will return to the side at right full-back, with Trevor Reece switching to the left side of the defence.
United's match with Brighton is not likely to provide the tense, exciting soccer that past encounters have produced. Brighton is lying third from bottom in
1 the Broadlands League ’ points table and has ) struggled to strike form this > season, making an upset re- • suit unlikely. r The Woolston coach (Mr • Terry Mann) is in an awkward situation. His captain r (Stan McGaffin), was unfit 1 to play last Saturday and ■ now Mr Mann has to find a , place for him. His replacement last week,
Graham Dacombe, played well, showing more determination and skill than he did earlier in the season. Mr Mann might consider playing McGaffin in a deeper role and drop a mid-fielder. The Rangers coach (lan Marshall), has been forced
to find replacements for Trevor Reece and John Oliver, his two most experienced defenders. John Souter is also a doubtful starter. Alan South and Scott
Dewar will replace Blake and Oliver. Rangers is a team with a good reputation of beating sides like United and Woolston, which play in a higher grade than themselves.
The Unite d-Brighton match will be played at Spreydon Domain beginning at 2.00 p.m. while the Rangers-Woolston game will be played at Rangers Park at 2.30 p.m.
