Hockey chance
A place in the semi-finals of the national women’s under 21 hockey competition will be Canterbury’s reward if it wins its second and thrid-round games in Christchurch this week-end. Canterbury won the first round, against Ashburton, North Otago, Maniatoto and South Canterbury, at a tournament in Timaru at Queen’s Birthday week-end. On Sunday morning it meets Otago in the second round at Jellie Park while Malvern plays Wellington; also in the morning, at Kirwee.
The winners of these two games meet in the third round in the afternoon at Cottesmore College. The winner will enter the semifinals, to be played later in the season. The team is.— Karyn Smith, Lynette Sutherland (captain), Alison Sutherland, Henrietta Carroll, Beth McEachen, Jean Catherwood, Donna Paviell, Lois McArtney, Julie Verdellen, Suzette Eastmond, Susan Johnstone, Anthea Feaver, Mary Clinton, Rosemary Gardiner, Phillippa /.shton.
