The eventual aim of the four slud cattle vendors at Cheviot is to stage an annual sale at the Cheviot Show Ground.
They had hoped ihat as well as cater for the sale of bulls, they could establish an annual calf sale for a yarding of up to 1500 head; also a spring J£ I £._?L sroWn store cattle.
The project was being actively fostered bv the Cheviot Agricultural and Pastoral Association, supported by the Cheviot branch of Federated Farmers. However, the Health Department has lodged an objection against the decision of the Count. Council sanctioning the project. The department's appeal is to be heard by a tribun-
al at a hearing on Jul\ 17. The department based its objection largely on two grounds, that it was too close to an urban area, and that there would 1* a problem with drainage and effluent Before the objection was made, the council had approved a change of use. and there were no individual objections within the township
