Moments later he was back on the rostrum to receive a set of harness and hopples, donated by Mr and Mrs Frank Richardson, of Templeton, to the trainer of the “Horse of the Year.” Devine was not awarded the trophy for the most successful driver at Addington Raceway during the season but he was runner-up to the Tinwald reinsman, “Doody": ; Townley. Third place! for this award, presented by ; Warwick Spicer, chief reporter of the Christchurch I Star, which sponsored the !U.D.R. award, went to Robert Cameron. Mr and Mrs Sam Ballantyne, of the Eastwood Lodge Stud, provided the Nardin’s Byrd trophy for the “Mare of the Year” at Addington Raceway. This went to Mr and Mrs Charlie Hunt, joint owners of Port View.

There was also a trophy f r Port View’s trainer. Bi.l Hunt, and her regular driver, Dennis Nyhan. Honour's in the battle for the Maurice Holmes trophy ifor probationary drivers at the Raceway during the sea son was shared jointly by Ray McNally and Murray Rennie. Mr Bruce Woods, president of the New Brighton Trotting Club, congratulated both youthful reinsmen on their achievement. They leave tomorrow for a two-week stay in Melbourne. At last evening's function cheques were also presented by Mr Eugene McDermott, president of the N.Z. Metropolitan Trotting Club, to the of the sires of the first four place-getters in t! ' N.Z. Standardbred Produce Stakes Final, run at Addington Raceway on May 112.
