Right speed, wrong place
NZPA-Reuter Saint Etienne The Frenchman Didier Pironi, aged 26, who on Monday drove the winning Renault to Renault’s first victory in the Le Mans 24hour endurance race, was yesterday suspended from driving for 15 days for speeding in St Etienne. Pironi, who with his teammate, Jean-Pierre Jaussaud, covered more than 5000 km at an average speed of 210km/h to win the Le Mans race, had his licence taken away by the Prefect of Nievre Department after he was caught driving at almost twice the speed limit by a radar trap.
