Gravis is married to V. Gravis, a leading Wellington player who has represented New Zealand. Mrs Cunningham and Mrs Seeker led the trial tournament field during the last five rounds and were eventually comfortable winners, but the, scoring was - particularly close almost to the bottom of the ladder. The lop placings were:— Mrs Cunningham and Mrs Seeker. 138, 1; Dr Hobbs and Mrs Rotherham. 124, 2; Mrs Cormack and Mrs Evitt, 121, 3; Mrs Goldstone and Mrs Gravis. 117, 4; Mrs V. Bell! and Mrs N. Mather (Christ-1 church) and Miss S. Duncan i (Wellington) and Mrs M. Quayle (Hastings), 114, equal! 5. Mesdames Bell and Mather! were strong contenders for j a high trial placing until the ’ last round on the second day. | -But an outright loss on the; ninth round to Mesdames | Cormack and Evitt and results slightly below par on! the last day put them back !
