Mona Vale ‘grid plan’
The purchase of Mona Vale by Christchurch citizens will be commemorated today by the Christchurch Civic Trust in a presentation of a “grid plan” to i the Mona Vale management committee.
To save the 13-acre site j from subdivision in 1967, an , appeal was launched by the Christchurch Civic Trust to raise $150,000 to buv and! ! maintain it. The area was di-j I vided into 30.000 nominal j titles, each selling for $5, and marketed. Buyers re- | ceived a “certificate of land ■ grant,” as a receipt.
Each lot measured nine square feet.
I The presentation on Mom I day will be of the grid plan, i showing the 3000 sections (each divided into 10 lots). It is a replica of the one i drawn up by a surveyor, Mr B. N. Alexander, for the appeal.
