Toys out of clothes pegs
Paint and shape a handsome toy soldier and a little doll from wooden clothes pegs. They are fun to colour and dress and. if you like, you can make other peg friends for them — or a troop of fellow
soldiers. To make a soldier you need: — two wooden clothes pegs; the top of a toothpaste tube; sandpaper; glue, poster paint; a hammer; two strong but thin nails. Ask an adult to saw off the prongs from one peg. These will be your soldier’s arms. Sandpaper these and then the complete peg. Next, add the arms to the complete peg with your hammer and nails.
Paint a smart uniform on to the soldier. Fasten the toothpaste tube top on to his head with the glue. This makes a strong hat. Finally, paint a face on to the- soldier. Make the doll from two wooden clothes pegs in the same way as described for the soldier, using sandpaper, hammer, and two strong but thin nails.
However, you do not need a toothpaste tube top. Instead, you need scraps of material for her clothes and a little wool. You must-also have glue and poster paint.
Make the doll’s dress from a gay piece of cotton material. Glue the woo! on her head for hair. Make her a little cotton bonnet as well and paint her face.
