Tikumu’s letter

Dear Children,

You can make crazy, whirling pictures out of birdseed, and hang them from your bedroom ceiling or on the walls. You will need lots of birdseed, so be kind to your pet budgie and buy year own supply. Before you begin, have ready:— liquid white glue, birdseed, waxed paper, a paper bag, a spoon, and cord. First, take off the cap from your bottle of liquid white glue. Squeeze on to the waxed paper ioops and whirls and circles. Make them move in and out of each other in a squiggly pattern. Wr.tcn that the glue does not flow too quickly as you do not want lumpy lines.

Next, take the spoon and gently sprinkle the birdseed over your design of glue. Make sure that the birdseed covers the glue completely. Leave to dry overnight. Next day, when it is dry-, carefully tilt the paper into the paper bag. Any seeds that did not dry on the g'cie will fall into it and can be used again. Now, very slowly peel away the waxed paper from the dry and hardened birdseed picture. Tie a length of card into one of the loops in your squiggl" and knot it.

Hang your picture from the ceiling or on a wall. It will also look pretty' if it swings by a window. Tikumu.
