Nurses to meet Minister
Representatives of New Zealand’s 4000 psychopaedic and psychiatric nurses will meet the Minister of Labour (Mr Gordon) this morning to discuss salary claims.
Last week, the hospitals group of the Public Services Association gave Mr Gordon notice of the intention of the nurses to take industrial action after 14 days if no satisfactory action was taken on the salary claim.
Mr Gordon sought a meeting today regarding the claim.
The deputation to meet the Minister will be led byj the president - of the P.S.A. (Mr J. F. Turner) and will include three negotiators for the claim from Nelson, Auckland, and Christchurch. One of the negotiators, Mr C. Bell, of Christchurch, said last (evening that the deputation hoped for a speedy resolution -of the salary dispute, particularly because of (the fact that today’s meeting (was called by Mr Gordon. “One of our main causes ■I for concern is the apparent ; denial of our right to negoi tiate on our claim.
