Transport survey to go into homes
PA Wellington More than 20,000 New Zealanders, including 4000 in Christchurch will be interviewed over the next three months as part of a national transportation survey commissioned by the National Roads Board. The survey, which will involve interviews in 5000 households in six areas, is being done by a management consultant company, W. D. Scott and Company, (N.Z.), Ltd. The areas in which the. S’rvey will be made are ! Auckland (1500 homes),) Wellington (1000), Christ-) church (1000), Dunedin) (500), Napier-Hastings (500),) and Hamilton (500).
i The study, the first on a i national basis, will examine i people’s travel habits, and ■ will include all people living ! in the selected households I over the age of five. The interview responses I will be computer analysed, and the results used to assist transport planning. i Follow-up surveys may be held at five or 10-year inter- : vals. Before a call was made, a letter would be sent to the i householders. A total of 150 inter- ■! viewers in the six survey jareas began field work ) yesterday. It is hoped to II complete the first stage of )the survey within three months.
