Alcohol limits
Blood alcohol limits vary greatly from country to country, with a level of 30 mgm in Switzerland and 150 mgm in South Africa. New Zealand’s 100 mgm is one of the highest. The limits are: 30 mgm: Switzerland. 50 mgm: Norway, Yugoslavia, Sweden (also has higher limit of 150 mgm carrying a higher penalty), Iceland (higher limit of 120 mgm), Victoria (Australia), Netherlands, Hungary. 80 mgm: Australia,
Canada, France (higher limit of 120 mgm), Northern Ireland, Britain, Australia (except Victoria), Denmark, Utah (United States). 100 mgm: Finland, United States (under Federal law the maximum blood alcohol has been set at this level although lower levels are permitted), New Zealand. 125 mgm: Republic of Ireland. 130 mgm: West Germany. 150 mgm: South Africa.
