Alteration grants for disabled
PA Wellington Disabled persons (will be able to alter a house to accommodate a wheelchair, a walking frame, or any other appliance they need through grants announced in the Budget.
“The loans can also be used to provide handrails, handgrips, or similar aids, or for such alterations to plumbing, electric fittings, and kitchen facilities as the Social Welfare Department considers necessary." said the Minister of Social Welfare (Mr Walker).
Suspensory loans available to disabled persons who need a car for work or to undergo work training have been raised from $3OOO to $3500 from January 1. 1979.
