Collinge on tour standby?

PA Auckland The New Zealand cricket team left Auckland on Saturday morning with the knowledge that, if any of its faster bowlers should break down, Richard Collinge, the rec o r d-breaking left-arm pace bowler, would very likely be available as a replacement for the English cricket tour.

Collinge was originally not available for the tour for both business and family reasons, but has since sold his house in Rotorua and settled in Tauranga with his wife and family.

The national selectors have also been made aware that Hedley Howarth — one of the original reserves for the side — is now not avail-

able. His non-travelling replacement position has been taken by the Central Districts off-spinner, Doug Bracewell, who has been asked to keep himself prepared. The other non-travelling reserves for the team are John Morrison, Ewen Chatfield and David O’Sullivan. The first match of the tour will be played on Friday, when New Zealand meets a London-New Zealand Cricket Club selection at Eastbourne in a one-day match. The London-New Zealand side will include those members of the New Zealand party not selected for the national XL The team will arrive in London this morning after travelling to England via Singapore.
