Roughneck wins steeples
The seven-year-old Agricola gelding. Roughneck, won the Australian Steeplechase (3350 m at Sandown on Saturday. Starting at 9-to-4 favourite. Roughneck strolled away to beat Tralane by 20 lengths. Coolgardie was five lengths away in third place, with the New Zealand-bred Lot fourth.
Roughneck was given the run of the race by Paul Hely, who had the big gelding in mid-field early and then made a long sustained run for the easiest of victories.
