Two more entries for chess

The acceptance of two entries from St Bede’s College has resulted in the entry of a record 27 teams for “The Press” schools’ chess competition, which starts next week. The competition will provide chess in the second term for almost 200 pupils and this has been recognised by the many notes accompanying the entries which have expressed appreciation at “The Press” continuing to sponsor the tournament that started in 1971. The previous best entry was in 1975 and 1976, when 25 teams participated. All schools should have received a copy of the rules, names

of liaison officers, result cards, score sheets and a draw for the tournament by Monday. Next week’s first-round draw is:— A grade.—Christchurch B.H.S. A v.
