N.Z. funds-runs planned

PA Wellingtoi New Zealanders are to be asked to pound the pavements to raise funds to send the 103-strong New Zealand team to the C ommonwealth Games, at Edmonton in August. for fun in their local communities to raise the additional money needed. “The runs will be held on Sunday, July 16 and their aim will be to encourage individuals and families to take exercise for recreation and for the benefit of their health and at the same time to raise funds to support the New Zealand Commonwealth Games team. “The runs will be organised so that families can take part either by running or walking. The entry fee, will be SI for adults,

50 cents for school children and $2 for a family. At the finish of the run, participants will be issued with a certificate stating that they have completed the run and they are a supporter of the Games team.” T w e n t y-four mayors have been invited to establish committees in their communities. Already several mayors, including those in Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Nelson and Wellington, have given their support to the project.
