‘Maori tensions exploited’

The leader of the Values Party (Mr A. H. Kunowski) has accused the Government of exploiting the tensions and uncertainties within the !Maori people to help its aßenation of Maori land. “To add insult to injury, the Prime Minister had the sheer audacity to imply that the protesters at Bastion Point were more the puppets of the Socialist Unity Party rather than people genuinely and deeply concerned about the great Maori land grab,” said Mr Kunowski, in a statement.

The Values Party had fully supported the Bastion Point protest right from its start, he said.

“In the final analysis, the law was upheld. But justice still has to be done, and the Values Party will call for a full-scale inquiry at the highest possible level into the whole question of Maori land tenure,” Mr Kunowski said.
