Both soccer leaders lose

The two Rothmans Soccer League leaders were both beaten in the tenth round of matches played over the week-end.

Mount Wellington lost its unbeaten record when it was beaten, 3-2, by Nelson United at Nelson. The match was an entertaining one, and Nelson deserved its win. However the Mount has built up such a lead in the competition that it is still well clear of the field. Eastern Suburbs created several chances against Blockhouse Bay but took

none to lose, 0-3. Ironically, Blockhouse Bay made three chances for itself and scored from every one. Trans Tours United had a good win in Wellington over Stop Out, an improved performance on its poor effort the week before against Nelson.

North Shore boosted itself clear of the relegation zone with a 4-1 win over Hamilton, two of its goals being scored by the youngest member of the New Zealand national squad, Duncan Cole. A goal by Dave Hutchinson

enabled Courier Rangers to beat Columbus Waterside, 1-0, in Auckland while two second-half goals by Gary Paddison and Mike Simenoff gave Wellington Diamond United a 2-1 win over Woolston W.M.C. at Garrick Park yesterday. Results:—
