Where is Abba?

For five days now the Hetherington family have been wondering if their pet sheep, Abba, has been served up as a meal, Abba, whieh was due to lamb in August, was safely tethered in her Islington back-yard run at 9.30 p.m. on Sunday. Next morning she had vanished. Now every night the children ask whether their pet has returned. Abba was bought from a farmer less than a month ago but the whole family quickly became attached to her, said Mrs Y. V. Hetherington. “She was a very casual sheep and took to the children straight away.” Abba also was a very efficient lawnmower, but most of al] she was a family pet Mrs Hetherington said that somebody must have gone to a great deal of trouble .o take Abba from their Seymour Street property. She had been attached very securely to a line which allowed her to move about freely. The loss was reported to the police but they have found no trace of Abba. “One wonders how low the economic situation has reached when some callous person or persons cad steal a child’s pet from a Christchurch suburban home overnight,” Mrs Hetherington said. She would like to hear from anybody who may know where Abba Is, if she is still tlive.
