Objection to award
The Big Game Hunters’ Association has laid a formal complaint to the Ombudsman this week after the announcement of the Governor-General’s Export Award to Wilson, Neill, and Company, Ltd, for its exports of wild game medt and skins. The society’s president (Mr R. B. Candy, of Ashburton) said the Ombudsman had been requested to ask the relevant Government department to justify the award to a company which was “wrecking a multi-million dollar recreational interest” of much greater value than the worth of the exports.
