John Parker vice-captain
The Northern Districts and former Worcestershire batsman, John Parker, is the vice-captain of the New Zealand cricket team which will leave in a fortnight for its tour of England. When it was believed, early last season, that Mark Burgess was not keen to assume the role of New Zealand captain, and it was known that a former leader, Bevan Congdon, was not interested in the appointment, Parker was a strong candidate for the captaincy. Burgess did accept the position, but Parker is a logical; choice as his successor:! Burgess will turn 34 during! the tour.
