Tyre price rise soon
PA Wellington Tyre prices will rise between 5 and 10 per cent from this month.
Dunlop, Reidrubber, and Firestone announced increases this week, and Goodyear is expected to make a similar announcement before the end of the month. The increases will mean that, for example, a standard Firestone six-ply tubeless tyre will cost $5 more at $55.45, and a Cavallino radial tyre $3 more at $61.50. Firestone retread prices
will also rise, a standard 6.95 x 14 retread rising by $3.05 to $27.55. The increases were applied for in February, and are in line with the six monthly price-rise cycle approved by the Department of Trade and Industry. The last increase was effective from November 22.
Farmers and transport firms will also pay more; a 13 x 24 six-ply Firestone tractor tyre has increased from $168.20 to $185.05, and a 900 x 20 12-ply truck tyre by $13.15 to $176.95.
