Trials titles to Otago dog
The Canterbury provincial collie dog championships, held over three days, ended at Waihi Station, Geraldine, on Saturday afternoon E. Stringer (Kyeburn), with, Chum, was champion in both the 1 straight huntaway and in the: zig zag huntaway. The champion of the long pulU and head this year is A. Dickson (Cheviot), who also took second ( and fourth. His Joan performed ( particularly well to win. 1 The short pull and yard cham-i pionship went to I. M. Anderson i (Dansey’s Pass), with Boss. ( Two host club members werei placed in the zig zag huntaway — J. B. Anderson was runner-! up. and T. Stevenson fourth. The trials involved 104 dogs: in the heading events, and 67 in; each of the two huntaway evejnts. i An innovation this year was the< use of two-way radio between the grounds where the trials! were being held, and this is < likely to be adopted for future! trials.
I Next year's Canterbury titles 1 will be on the grounds of the i Glenroy Collie Dog Club, just /north of the Rakaia. Detailed results:— j Long pull and head,—A.
