Burning permit declined
The North Canterbury Catchment Board has declined to issue a permit to a firm wanting to bum insulation off copper cable in the Waimakariri riverbed. The company, Shakespeare Metals, Ltd, was advised "in confirmation of advice previously given in October, 1975, that all previous peri mission for this practice was then revoked as a pollutioncontrol measure.” The board also agreed to meet landowners in the Lyndon area, upstream of Waiau township, on May 17 to discuss flooding problems in the area.
