Savings bank expands team

Three assistant general managers have been appointed to the Canterbury Savings Bank management! team because the present; structure is no longer adequate, let alone able to cope! with growth, says the bank’s president (Mr I. D. Howell). Announcing management changes, Mr Howell said that last year’s growth rate indicated the need for longterm planning for the 1980 s. Canterbury Savings Bank depositors' funds had increased 53.3 M to SI6IM during the yea tended March 31, he said. The growth rate of 26 per cent was the highest of any of New Zealand’s 12 trustee savings banks and was more than double the 1976-77 increase.

•The management structure designed to meet the requirements of the bank in earlier days when it was struggling to establish itself is not adequate to meet present circumstances. The time has arrived when the small management team has to be strengthened and enlarged." Mr Howell said.
