Events organised for children during the school holidays include: Building Centre, Cashel Street: “Smarties” Colour-a-Home competition for children aged 8 to 12, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Friday, May 12. A working model railway is on display between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily until May 19. Ferrymead Historic Park and Transport Museum: Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Special train running to village at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, and Friday, May 12. Guided tours at 10.30 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. daily. James Hay Theatre: Mary Poppins, Canterbury Children’s Theatre production, until May 20. May 8, 8 p.m., week nights 7.30 p.m., Saturdays, 2 p.m. only.
