One of the main aims of the Christchurch Epilepsy Association is to remove the fear and suspicion surrounding the condition. As part of its publiceducation programme, the association has worked with pupils of the Christchurch South Intermediate School over the last three weeks to encourage an understanding of epilepsy, which affects about 1400 people in Christchurch. Mrs D. Cowan, president of the association, is shown with the two winning posters in a competition held among pupils at the school as a prelude to Epilepsy Week, which will begin in Christchurch on May 8, culminating in a street appeal on May 12.
