Varied soccer fortunes for Chch
It was a week-end of dif- , ferent fortunes for the two ! Christchurch teams in the j Rothmans soccer league competition in their sixth- i round matches. 1 Trans Tours United at last j scored the goals it has been , promising, beating Hamilton, < 4-2, on Saturday. It was a polished display and a fully i deserved win. 1 Woolston Workingmen’s 1 Clu suffered its second loss ! in as many matches in i
Auckland to date this season, going down, 2-0, to the promising Blockhouse Bay team. Woolston is still to record its first win in the competition. Had a fine effort from Neil Francis not hit the post in the second half, the match could have had a different ending. Mount Wellington retained its lead at the expense of Eastern Suburbs in an entertaining match on Saturday. Sam Malcomson was sent off late in the match and,
from the resulting penalty, Bill de Graaf scored the winning goal. Nelson moved into second position with a 2-1 win over Columbus Waterside in a match largely dominated by Nelson after Waterside had opened the scoring in the eighth minute. Stop Out. and Courier Rangers took a point each'. from their match in Wellington. Courier had the better of an uninspiring battle. The goals were both from outside the penalty area.
