Drink ban imposed
PA Wellington The captain of a Wellington rugby league team was told in the Magistrate’s Court that he had to abstain from after-match drinking. Neville Dean McNaught, aged 22, a printing mechanic, had pleaded guilty to stealing four wheel assemblies and two hubcaps, valued at $290, on April 14 and 15. Mr M. F. Hobbs. S.M., sentenced him to three months non-residential periodic detention and 15 months probation. “It is clear that the aftermatch functions over a period of time have led to your over-mdulgence in alcohol. You need to abstain for a period of time," the Magistrate said.
