Derby to Duthie
The favoured driver, John Crawford, spun out on the first lap and was put out of contention in the feature race of the Christchurch Kart Club’s meeting yesterday. Seventeen karts contested the 50-lap derby on a damp track. The race went to Alan Duthie (Suzuki 125). Roy McLachlan took an early lead in his lOOcu cm McCulloch, with Geoff Hudson right behind him. Paul Crichton (125 Honda) and Duthie came up through the field to second and third places in the third lap and passed McLachlan in the (ninth. | J. Crawford also mounted a challenge but his frame broke and he had to retire in the thirtieth lap. In the Gee memorial race; over 10 laps, Hudson went! to the front after a short' itussle with Gary Dixon and' (a challenge from Warren I iPettigrew went for nothing! [when he had a puncture, i Ccrtin Goss raced through the field to come from eighth place to second by ’the sixth lap. Further back was a tussle between McLachlan, Keith Hooper, and Gavin Hawker for third place. Results:—
