Only one goal scored in N.Z. soccer
Only four matches were played in the third round of the Rothmans Soccer League at the week-end and, remarkably, only one goal was scored. The cause of the two postponed games was the closure of Wellington Airport. Trans Tours United was unable to reach Wellington to play Columbus Waterside on Saturday and Stop Out was unable to leave Wellington to fly to Hamilton yesterday. The goal was scored by Mount Wellington in its win against Courier Rangers on Saturday. The honour fell to
Brian Turner in the first half of a poor match in which a disappointing Mount Wellington was saved only by the fact that its opposition was even more dis-
appointing. Wooiston W.M.C. picked up its first point in the competition in its match with North Shore yesterday (see report below). Shore was only a shadow of the title-winning team of last season and much work will have to be done if it is to avoid relegation. Wellington Diamond United also took its first point in its match with Eastern Suburbs in Welling-
ton yesterday, while Blockhouse Bay drew with Nelson United in Auckland.
