DUTIES: The position involves the collection of tidal data in the field and the processing of all tidal information within the New’Zealand area of charting responsibility. After initial training, including a period at sea in HMNZS MONOWAI, the successful applicant would be employed permanently at the Hydrographic Office. CONDITIONS: Applicants must be New Zealand citizens and physically fit. The successful applicant would be required to serve a probationary period of one year. The initial term of employment will be five years followed by four years reserve liability. During this time the applicant may apply for an extension of service to retiring age for rank I age 45). In certain circumstances prior service may be purchased for superannuation purposes, and an extension of service beyond retiring age for rank may be granted to enable an applicant to qualify for superannuation.
