Beef up despite pay rise
Farmers received some good news yesterday. Although processing charges at ! [ Canterbury freezing works I will rise from Monday,, no 'change will be made ini (prices paid for lamb and; I sheep meat, or lamb and|i sheep skins. Prices for all| [grades of beef will rise. [ Normally a reduction in[ schedule prices is expected h after an increase in process-! ing charges, but this time! markets have improved or[ ( are expected to improve to j the extent that it is not seen! as necessary to reduce prices.
Increases in beef prices [ range from 0.4 c per kg to! 3.4 c.
