Good chance for Woolston
By
DAVID LEGGAT
Tomorrow’s Rothmans Soccer League match between Woolston W.M.C. and North Shore should see the Christchurch side win its first point — or points — in the competition this season. Woolston, deprived of a deserved point in Auckland last Saturday, will meet a team considerably weakened from the powerful side which won the league title last vear.
from Trans Tours United. The injury causing the most concern is that of Jorm Flyvbjerc, who has played only one and a half games in the last two months. Brian Hendry left the field 15 minutes' from the end of last week-end’s match with a groin injury and will not play for two weeks.
The busy midfielder, Keith Francis, has the flu but, according to Mr Mann, should be fit to play. Allan Boath will definitely return to the side, after being injured against United a fortnight ago. North Shore, in spite of
Injuries have given the Woolston coach (Mr Terry Mann) the opportunity to increase his squad. He has signed Stuart Chalmers, an 18-vear-old midfield player
having lost several ex- 1 perienced players, is still a i good team, boasting Adrian • Elrick, Duncan Ormond, 1 Duncan Cole and Kerry Hales in its line-up. How- j ever, it has conceded seven , goals in two matches. It seems very unlikely j that Richard Mulligan will be in the United team to i meet Columbus Waterside in ’ Wellington today. Mulligan , collided with Dave Taylor j during United’s 2-1 wjn over Courier Rangers last Saturday and his right leg has not improved sufficiently. The United coach (Mr Terry Conley) is taking 13 > players to Wellington but
finds himself in something of a quandry. “We know very little about them as a team,” said Mr Conley. “We will keep it tight and hope to put away a higher percentage of our chances than we have in other matches.” in the other match today, Courier Rangers play Mount Wellington in Auckland and will be lucky to gain a point from the match. Tomorrow Wellington Diamond United plays Eastern Suburbs in Wellington; Blockhouse Bay meets Nelson United in Auckland; and] Hamilton will host Stop Out.
