The organising committee of the championships is extremely pleased with the response from swimmers. There are 42 entries, including entrants from Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington, Otago and Southland.

Both the routines and figures this evening will be (contested in four classes — open, intermediate, junior and novice. Misses Breekveldt and Jenkins are the two most experienced swimmers in New Zealand. They have competed overseas twice and are on the verge of worldclass performances. Since late last year they have been! training relentlessly in thel hope of competing in the I world championships. If they fail to win selection they will place their j priorities on winning a place in the New Zealand team for the Pan Pacific invitation meeting in Christchurch in November 1979.
